The final step to becoming connected to outcomes, and therefore becoming a fully mature Connected Legal Function, is to Focus on Impact.

It’s incredibly difficult to maximize the impact that legal has on the business without first optimizing its productivity and engagement, and having proactive processes and mindset. Once you’ve freed time up from the manual repetitive, lower-value tasks, built solid relationships within the business, and leveraged those to be more proactive, you’re in an optimal space to be an enabler which really uses its legal knowledge and commercial acumen to drive the business forward.

Being impactful is where the true contribution of the Connected Legal Function becomes evident, not just from the legal team’s perspective but also from the perspective of the wider business. An impactful legal team is outcome-focused at the department and organizational level, understanding the most effective ways for legal to contribute to and enable successful business outcomes.
